Wasn't 2016 bad enough already?

So true re: popular vote, well in excess of 1MM and headed well over 2MM when CA, WA, OR and other absentee and provo ballots counted. That would be the widest gap in history and give Hillary more votes than Gore in his pop vote win in '00 and more than Bill Clinton received in both victories. I'm sure you've heard how it's all spurred a review of Electoral College, something which happens more often than election years, and the movement to bypass the Constitutional Amendment route to having more states sign on to agree to have electors vote according to popular vote. Once there are enough states to total the 270 electoral votes on board, the measure is enacted. We shall see.

The Orange Scourge/AKA Drumpf tweeted (the only communication other than frothing and ranting in word salad that he's capable of due to character limits and no need for grammar or clarity) did tweet about the "disaster" (one of his few multi-syllabic words in his 3-year-old's vocab) in 2012. Now he's changed his tune, of course. Wait 5 minutes. Also, 1/3 or his irrational tantrum post-elect tweets have been targeting the media for any reporting on him that isn't to his liking. Scary times ahead if his twitter is THE source for his sheeple and Kool-Aid guzzlers and much of the press that is made up of actual journalists become "the enemy" and "untrusted" and "biased."

The world really does seem upside down, from Western Europe to home turf.

As for those 4,000 "top jobs" that are first to be filled out of 25,000+, there are no peeps lining up and Drumpf has NO friends, only long lines of those he's bankrupted, stiffed, defaulted on loans to, and so on. Other than immediate family, there's nothing and no knowledge of or experience about government and public policy. Considering he thought that Obama's staff and appointments would be staying on and he had no plan... It will be certain civil servants not attached to any administration left, which is better than who Drumpf might dredge up given his random selection of the worst and dimmest (or most corrupt and notorious so far). It was terrible enough having Repugnants blocking any appointments for key positions throughout Obama's tenure and the havoc that created in spiral form, but this is more uncharted territory.

On that note, more looking at cuddly koalas, cuddly creatures, field trip photos...

I have indeed--journalists around here tell the masses that it's unlikely to happen because it would mean amending the constitution. To which a columnist replied that democracy is a fluctuating form of governement, constantly redefining itself, meaning mostly that the people is sovereign and that if enough citizens want something to be changed, then it bloody well better happen.

Trump's relationship with the press is very disturbing (and his "It's unfair" at the protests? Really? You're President elect, and the best you can come up with is "It's unfair"? Good lord...)

Not that our ministers are doing much better.

Having read a bunch of NY Times articles during the campaign and in the last few days, I'll admit it's clear from their coverage that they're not pro-Trump. But there's a little thing called freedom of the press, and if you don't want to be called on your mistakes, try not to make such obvious ones.

(And while I haven't watched any Fox News coverage, I'll assume they're not pro-Clinton. Doesn't Trump have a problem with that?)

I'm planning a re-watch of The West Wing and Parks and Recreation in the coming months, just to dream a little about smart and motivated people doing a job to the best of their abilities.
