New news

Well, I'm finally beginning to emerge after the holidays. I decided that I prefer Christmas to New Year, by the way - Christmas is all well and good, but New Year? Taking good resolutions? Reflecting on the past year? Meeting with the family? Awful. And the family particularly annoyed me this year.

Anyway, I'm glad it's done. It's kind of annoying to see life come to a screeching halt during 15 days - although I should be used to it, as it's the same thing during the summer months.

I took the opportunity to watch the LOTR extended versions, and of course the appendices. A full time job in itself… The extended movies are great - I was pleasantly surprised to discover 'new' movies, instead of seeing movies I already knew by heart, with a few artificially added scenes here and there. And I cried like a baby at the end - as I cried during the documentary on the end of the shooting process.

In other news, I seem to have developed a sudden and violent obsession for The O.C. in general and Ben McKenzie and Adam Brody in particular. Given the previews I had seen, I was expecting another Beverly Hills, so I refrained from watching the first episodes, and then Benjamin McKenzie caught my eye as I was channel surfing and I was surprised to find a remarkably good show - with funny moments, touching moments, and nice characters. Now, I'm sure the show will, eventually, evolve into another Beverly Hills (with characters you can't help hating, explosions, false deaths and so on), but for now (we're entering the Oliver Gate era over here) I'm enjoying the ride.

Also? Quite a few excellent writers in this fandom. :-)
