- Why I love them or why I wish they'd go die in a fire.

Oooh, I love her so, so much! She's so sweet and adorable, and I love that while she doesn't always understand the world she's living in, she always defends Matt and tries to do what's best for him, even if that means doing things she's uncomfortable with--as in that scene at the end of S3, when Julie tells her that Matt never wanted to play pro football but that he's a great artist, and she says she doesn't want to be the one thing holding him back.

- My OTP for the character.

Grandma-football.
Just saying.

- My favorite gen relationship with this character.

Matt, of course--I love that she always leaps to his defense, even if that means disagreeing with Coach Taylor, and she worships Coach Taylor (that scene in S3 where they meet at the food store and she starts telling him that he shouldn't have made JD QB1 was hilarious.)

And Matt is so good at taking care of her, and taking on responsabilities that no teenager should have to face, and not hesitating to be nice with her even when his friends are looking on (again, a hard thing to do for a teenager). I think one of their best scenes together is the one when she tells him that he's a sweet boy and he replies, "Well, yeah, that's because you raised me."

- An unpopular opinion about this character.

I didn't spend a lot of time in the FNL fandom so I don't know what people thought about her, though I can't imagine anyone not liking her. And (that's rare) I don't think there's anything about her that I actually dislike... Ok, she's kind of pissy with Matt's mother, but for Matt, she makes the effort of pretending to accept her, and that's a lot for someone her age, and with her problems.

- One thing I wish would [have] happen[ed] with this character in canon.

I understand why she can be a bit blind to her son's faults, considering, but I do wish she'd told him off a little bit when he left again (though that would have been one hell of a thing to live with afterwards, now that I think about it, as it would have been the last time she saw him.)

- An idea I have for the character that I haven't written yet/won't ever write for whatever reason.

I haven't written any FNL fanfic, but if I did, it would probably be a conversation with Coach and/or Tammy, preferably after the annoncement of Matt and Julie's engagement.

Yay, Grandman Saracen!

One of my favorite moments is between Grandma Saracen and Matt's mom. Matt gets put in a game late and they see it one TV and just look at each other and then it's all "Let's go!"

I love that moment of unity. They were at odds with one another but Matt/Football?! We all must go! So much unconditional Matt love. It was awesome and I loved it. :-)

Yes! I loved that scene too! And Matt's "You came together?", like he can't believe they'd set their differences aside for him...
