Buffy, Chosen

Oct 03, 2008 20:11

I'm done watching season 7.

S7 remains my least favorite of the show for several reasons. On top of these issues, you can add plot holes big enough you could drive a truck through (What about Dawn's vision of Joyce? Was it The First? Why didn't we ever see more about the whole Buffy-won't-choose-you deal? Isn't it ironic, in that light, that Dawn's the one kicking Buffy from the house? Would it have killed them to show some more resolution about the kicking out thing? How come, in Chosen, the Ubervamps, who were so damn hard to kill one of them almost offed Buffy earlier in the season,
suddenly get a lot more easier to kill? Was The First destroyed when the Hellmouth collapsed (after all, it's everywhere, all the time)? I could go on.)

But for all that... (and in no particular order)

I like Spike saying "I wanna see how it ends."

I like Buffy saying, "I love you," and Spike replying, "No, you don't. But thanks for sayin' it."

I like the plan; if you can't fight according to the rules, change the rules.

I love, love, love Angel's face when he learns that Spike has a soul and his discussion with Buffy.

I like that, when he tells Buffy he'll be at her side in the big battle, she gets a frown on her face, as if she was thinking, "No, something's not right."

I can't help thinking that she sends him away because she was more willing to lose Spike than to lose him (and not being a huge Spike fan, I can deal with that).

I love how Buffy eventually kills Caleb. Ouch.

I love Robin and Faith. "Please, I'm so much prettier than you." I bet Faith hadn't heard that one before.

I love the scene where the gang says goodbye, and they head off into battle.

I love the scene where Willow uses the scythe to spread the Slayer power (but I do have one question; I may have missed something, but why did the spell have to be done in the high school, and while the potentials were going down the hellmouth? Couldn't Willow have done the spell before they were down there, just to be sure it worked? I get the effect of surprise, but five minutes wouldn't have hurt their chances... Just saying).

And then, that final scene standing at the edge of the crater that once was Sunnydale, wondering what to do next in this brave new world, and Buffy's smile.

picspam of love (or, my favorite moments)

1.

Buffy : Angel, what are you doing h- don’t even. I just want to bask. 2.

Caleb: Stupid girl. You’ll never stop me. You don’t have the ba-

Buffy : Who does nowadays?

Buffy : He had to split.
(worst pun ever...)

3.

Angel: Oh. Well.

Buffy: What?

Angel: That’s great... Everyone’s got a soul now. (...) You know, I started it. The whole having a soul. Before it was all the cool new thing.

Buffy: Oh, my god, are you twelve?

4.

Dawn: Dumbass.

Buffy: If you get killed, I'm telling.

5.

Buffy: You know, one of these days I’m just going to put you two in a room and let you wrastle it out.

Spike: No problem at this end.

Buffy: There could be oil of some kind involved…

6.

Faith: It's pretty radical, B.

Giles: It’s a lot more than that. Buffy, what you said- it flies in the face of everything we’ve ever… of what every generation has done in the fight against evil. ... I think it’s bloody brilliant.

7.

Buffy: I hate this. I hate being here. I hate that you have to be here. I hate that there’s evil and that I was chosen to fight it. I wish a whole lot of the time that I hadn’t been. I know a lot of you wish I hadn’t been, either. But this isn’t about wishes. This is about choices. I believe we can beat this evil. Not when it comes. Not when its army is ready. Now. Tomorrow morning I’m opening the Seal. I’m going down into the Hellmouth and I’m finishing this once and for all. Right now you’re asking yourselves what makes this different. “What makes us anything more than a bunch of girls being picked off one by one?” It’s true, none of you have the power that Faith and I do. So here’s the part where you make a choice.

8.

Giles: Could it possibly get uglier? I used to be a highly respected Watcher. Now I’m a wounded dwarf with the mystical strength of a doily. I just wish I could sleep.

9.

Buffy: So… what do you guys want to do tomorrow?

Willow: Nothing strenuous.

Xander: Well, mini-golf is always the first thing that comes to mind.

Giles: I think we can do better than that.

Buffy: I was thinking about shopping- as per usual.

Willow: There’s an Agnes B in the new mall!

Xander: Good. I could use a few items.

Giles: Aren’t we going to discuss this? Save the world and go to the mall?

Buffy: I’m having a wicked shoe craving.

Xander: Aren’t you on the patch?

Willow: Those never work.

Giles: And here I am, invisible to the eye, not having any say…

10.

Giles: The earth is definitely doomed.

11.

I actually didn't notice that until it was pointed out in someone's review, but Xander, who met Buffy first in the pilot, is the last one to leave her side. Giles, who is the last one who met her in the pilot, is the first to leave in the finale.

I like symmetry.

12.

Incidentally, Willow's amazingly beautiful...

13.

Buffy: So here’s the part where you make a choice. What if you could have that power… now? In every generation one Slayer is born because a bunch of men who died thousands of years ago made up that rule. They were powerful men.

This woman is more powerful than all of them combined. So I say we change the rule. I say my power should be our power.

Tomorrow, Willow will use the essence of the scythe to change our destiny.

From now on, every girl in the world who might be a Slayer, will be a Slayer.

Every girl who could have the power, will have the power.

Can stand up, will stand up.

Slayers… every one of us. Make your choice. Are you ready to be strong?

14.

Kennedy: You're a goddess.

Willow: And you're a Slayer.

15.

Willow: That was nifty...

16.

Buffy: I love you.

Spike: No, you don't. But thanks for saying it.

17.

Bye bye, Sunnydale...

18.

Willow: The First is scrunched so… what do you think we should do, Buffy?

Faith: Yeah, you’re not the one and only Chosen anymore. Just gotta live like a person. How’s that feel?

Dawn: Yeah, Buffy. What are we going to do now?

19.

...

I don't know about you, but I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy, right now...
