So today I've officially been home for over a week. It's so strange to think it's been that long, and at the same time, that short, because it feels almost as if no time has passed at all. But what's even more strange, being home feels so normal, like I never left, like hoping in a car, driving on the freeway and seeing McDonalds all over the place, is completely normal. It almost feels like life in the Galapagos and even mainland Ecuador never happened or else, was part of a different life completely. Two weeks ago was I really snorkling with sea lions and having a crazed Spanish breakfast with my host family? It just all seems incredibly weird. Not so much in a bad way just...peculiar. I suppose a part of me still can't believe that last semester really happened.
And I miss the sea lions. And the sun. And swimming. And the beach. And all the people. Hmph.
Anyway, this week has been pretty great, albeit uneventful. I've spent a lot of time eating, an inhuman amount, really. I've also spent a lot of time trying to figure out what I'm going to do with myself this summer. So I've spent a lot of time editiing my resume, creating cover letters, writing/editing writing samples and filling out job and internship applications. Mainly internship really, I need to get on the job thing actually. But hopefully I actually will find an internship. I have an interview for one tomorrow, which I'm actually super nervous about, so I hope that goes well.
Apart from that I'm doing a lot of fun reading. I have a whole stack of books right now, and two more that I ordered from different libraries that I'm gonna pick up tomorrow. So yay for summer reading! I'm also doing a lot of pointless tv watching, specifically America's Next Top Model I don't even like that show but a marathon hooked me. Guess going 5 months without really watching any tv has made me desperate. :-P
Well, that's about it. This weekend it's my dad's birthday and we are heading to Disneyland on Friday for it. I'm probably a little too excited about this, but I missed Disneyland. Then Sunday we're going to LA to LACMA for an art exhibit on Pompeii. Yay museums! And I think on Monday I'll be able to (finally) see the beach again, with a bonfire with some friends.
Should be a good weekend.
