For those who don't know, NaNoWriMo started six days ago, and so far it's been going pretty well for me. I'm writing an HP post-war fic with a pretty amazing plot (not that I'm at all arrogant about it, or anything). It's 26 pages in so far, but I've got a long way to go... I've never done NaNoWriMo before, and it's been several years since I wrote a novel length story; so my goal is to just finish something long for once, and then if it turns out well, fix it up later.
On Friday I checked out the Queers and Allies club at PSU. It seems like a good group of people. There are two other people studying Japanese and a guy from the Linguistics department, so I definitely felt at home. Anyway, they've got a lot of plans for this year and it's nice to be able to get involved without doing all the work myself for a change.
The next big con event for me is Sakura Con, which I believe takes place at the end of March. So far it's just me, Rose and Teal sharing a room, although we're hoping to add at least one or two other people to our group so that we'll be able to split the cost of room and gas. If anyone's interested, please let us know; we may be able to get a free night at one of the hotels, thanks to my dad.
As far as cosplay goes... I'm doing Utena (Revolutionary Girl Utena - because she's my soul mate and I madly adore her), Yukito (Originally from Card Captor Sakura, but I'm doing his Tsubasa character) and possibly Sally Po (Gundam Wing) as my Last Minute Vallue Village costume.
We'll be competing in the cosplay contest again, and I'm working on writing the sketch for it now. It's going to be a really awesome sketch- although we do need at least one more person to play an extra. If you or someone you know is going to Sakura Con and makes their own costume, let me know if you're interested in competing with us. We almost won best in show at Kumori Con this year (if you want the whole, drama-filled story look for my con report), so there's a good chance that we might win something at Sakuracon.
