The Barney visit

Cousin Barney...
When I think of cousins...I think of folks in my generation. Nope, barney was about 70 yrs old. He was shocked as hell when we came driving up his drive way, completely unexpected!
"Elizabeth??!! In all my years, I never expected this!" he said.
I was introduced, and we all sat out on his step chatting. He wanted to invite us in, but his house wasn't in the condition he wanted it to be in so we sat and chatted outside. Completely fine for us.

Barney took us out for dinner and because he couldn't remember my name, he decided to rename me "Halleluiah" So from then on...Halleluiah, would you like some soda...Halleluiah this or Halleluiah that. I loved it!! He was so sweet and kind, and funny. It was a pleasure meeting and hanging out with him.

The next day we went to Beth's other cousin Kitty Sean's house. She was about 87 yrs old. We hung out with her, and she made us laugh, tea, and french toast! She had an amazing memory and told us stories. She was one of my favorite parts of ireland!

After that we stayed over at a B&B and each morning ate a traditional irish breakfast. Mine was modified of course - no meat and eggs - so I ate toast and beans. Good and you'd be surprised how great irish butter tastes on toast! I love it! And Orange marmalade was served with everything! Yum!

Let see...I believe we travelled to ballyshannon after that, then on to Mayo to visit dolores' aunt. She was so sweet, and met us in the wool factory and led us to her house. Her house is BEAUTIFUL!!! She offered us tea and sandwiches! So generous! We talked about Dolores and Amy and the baby to come. We talked about family and Ireland. And we talked about their amazing dog Sasha...who is the protector of the neighbor's little kid.

The next day we hiked up Sleive Leig...I KNOW I spelled that wrong. But it's supposed to be the highest european point above sea level. And right at the top of our hike, Beth proposed to me. I said yes :O) I proposed to her in February and she said yes. So it was her turn. We found rings in ireland. We wanted fun little rings (I wanted mood rings) but none of them fit my finger (size 4 is sometimes too big) so after traveling back to Dublin, we were buying souvenirs, and I was playing - trying on rings, and surprise - one of them fit. I called Beth over, and we both got matching rings. So that's that! :O) We ended up in Dublin. Went to a gay bar (pretty nice) then did mostly shopping in dublin...taking the double decker bus. FUN!

Before you ask...no we haven't picked a date. A season, but not a date. Fall '07.
So that was Ireland. In a very small nutshell. We travelled very well together!
Pictures...will not follow. But we have tons to show you!!
