Painting Party This Weekend!

After much flip flopping we decided on our paint colours! With a small space we needed complementing neutrals, but we didn’t want to live in a colourless beige shoebox, so we decided on 2 light neutrals tinted with a hint of purple and blue/greens.

Initially I planned to use loads of purple everywhere, but realized it could potentially look very juvenile OR feel like a repeat of our wedding colours. Also we decided it would be immensely easier if we chose our wallpaper (for an accent wall in the living room) first, then simply pull the paint colour off the paper. Hence, mt. rainier gray was chosen! I love it. It’s the perfect balance between gray-blue-and-green.

We are taking a big risk by painting our place before we have all our lighting situated, but with floor to ceiling East-facing windows, we figured as long as the colours look decent in sunlight, we should be fine. But having an empty space to paint in is definitely easier than when the furniture arrives, so that risk is well worth it. (Here’s to hoping it will look good under our lighting…)

Where we plan to use the colours:
  • mt. rainier gray: living room, hallways, sunroom
  • early morning: kitchen, interior of hall closet
  • touch of gray: bedroom
  • african violet: bathroom
