Title: Yellow
Rating: G, maybe.
Words: 220

She was four years old, running from a haircut. Her mum had just caught Ron, and told her to ‘stay still and don’t you dare-’ but she had her wand in one hand, and was looking the other direction, trying to cut evenly, so Ginny had taken advantage of the momentary lapse to escape. It was almost August, and Bill and Charlie would be going to Hogwarts again in September, but that seemed ages away. The sun was glaring yellow on blue, and the grass was brown and prickly under her bare feet since it hadn’t rained in weeks and Dad didn’t dare charm it to grow so close to Muggles. She had to squint to see, and the entire world was shimmering, so she was rubbed her eyes, craning her neck to see which direction the orchard was; she’d gotten turned around somewhere, and now she was crying because she couldn’t see and her eyes hurt and her feet hurt and the sun was too bright. She stubbed her toe on a rock, and scraped her hand when she fell. She wiped her face with the back of her hand, and it was smeared with dirt and tears and snot and drying quickly in this hot sun, so she sat down, gave up. Maybe her mum would find her.
