some differences between the USA and sweden:
you pull up on a handle in the top middle of the toilet to flush it
no one seems to use salad dressing
juice and milk are generally drank with meals, not water
you eat with your fork in your left hand and knife in your right
light switches are square
24-hour time
fanta is really popular, as are pepsi max and various types of sparkling water
wooden ceilings everywhere, sometimes whitewashed
everyone (who can't yet drive a car) rides a moped... at least out in the countryside
tucking your jeans into your socks is cool (and i've done it)
the coast has rocks, islands galore, muddy sand, fjords
we eat so much cheese, bread, and butter
fika (coffee breaks, all the time)
OMG PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
we eat potatoes almost every day
you only eat with napkins on special occasions
elva kaffe (coffee at 11 a.m.)
people actually use wallpaper
so many people have boats
there are songs about respecting nature
you can get kanelbullar at mcdonald's
bike and walking paths go everywhere
swedes plan everything (and use planners)
tape doesn't usually come on dispensers
quotation marks always go in the same direction
people always eat with their knives
h&m is about as common here as starbucks is in the USA--if not more so
everyone has a camera phone and mp3 player
when you ask a question, you get an in-depth answer
everyone at least gets 4 national TV channels
people actually bicycle as a mode of transportation
ice cream comes in boxes and you cut out your portion with a knife
there are slugs everywhere (but i live in the country)
stylish kids wear lacoste and diesel
everyone gets as tan as possible during summer
people have stickers for the companies they work for on their cars
hand towels have loops to hang them by
