Wedding Weekend IV - Some Nice Moments

Mar 31, 2003 16:05

That family is a trip. So cohesive and caring and so damn many of 'em, how could the weekend not have been fun?

And the kids, boy did we play our little arses off. :) Molly Sue was born a mere three weeks ago, she was the first one we met. She was dead-ass asleep when we got there, and she slept most of the day, which I'm told is a surprise. Her mother, Darci, who's Suener's sister, is just as cool as she can be.

Anna and Noelle were really shy at first; Madison never did say much. But once we started twirling around in the yard, the other two couldn't get enough of their new friend Heith. In fact, their great grandmother, who they call Grandma Great, asked Anna, who was on my lap, "Do you have a new friend?"

Anna nods.

Grandma Great: "What's his name?"

Anna: [thinks, and then...] "Pig!"

More fun moments...

- Neil was taking laundry out of the washer to put in the dryer, but the dryer was already full of his stuff. So he said to me in his humorous voice, "If I just put this stuff up here on the counter in a flop, Darlene'll fold it up for me!" We walked past a little later, and all he had to do was point to his now-folded laundry.

- The day before the wedding, I was upstairs doing stuff and I suddenly heard the thunder of little tennis shoes coming in the door down below and the sudden screeching of tiny voices yelling, "Pig! Pig! Come down, Pig!"

- After the wedding, we were all outside taking pictures after the wedding, and Neil came up to me and said, "I'm gonna get m'self a weddin' present, know what it is Piiiig?" [holds up his wedding ring] "Pawn shop."

- Once the wedding cleanup was over and we were leaving, Darlene called Anna into the room and said, "Heith is going bye bye, can you give him a hug?" And instead she took off her little lacey flower girl headband-thing, put it on my head, and said, "Bye Pig!"

Those kids are so adorable. I will be posting photos later in the week. So. damn. cute.

I'm sure I will remember more wedding anecdotes as the days go. Plus, we have the Missouri reception this weekend, so we'll get to pig it up some more! Awww yeah.
