Where the Author discovers that some movies really are meant to be...sorta.
I watched The Brothers Grimm today. While it did not move me with the plot line, it did move me with the deepness of vision that only Terry Gilliam can manage. His direction touched upon most aspects of the Grimm Fairy Tales of my youth, mostly in cameos. He put it all in there, but you had to look for it. I blinked and missed a part of Cinderella, though I saw the rest. The basis of the movie is set as such: 2 conmen in the Napoleonic era working the villages with their elaborately staged hauntings who stumble upon the real deal: An actual enchanted forest with an evil witch-Queen. There is humor, there is sadness along with a little bit of madness. Mirror-mirror on the wall...go see this movie, that is all.
I say go see it if you are of the will. I did and I liked it.
Since I am unable to go to DragonCon this weekend, I now have to find something else to do. Anything happening this weekend that one of you could suggest going to or doing? Leave a reply.
I think I will see 40 year old virgin next...
