Head down, Dionysus tried to nurse the headache pounding around his temple with a few aspirin. The night had been a little slow, and he'd been a tad on the late side again considering his previous night, with a round of drinks that had him stumbling home. He hadn't been that drunk for a while, so it was rather refreshing even if he was paying for it today.
Following the pills with a glass of water, Dionysus got back to work, rolling up his shirt sleeves and delving his hands into the foggy dish water. Just as he'd placed a plate on the clean stack he heard the manager come in with his booming voice, throat clearing as he tapped his foot on the floor. Dionysus pasted on that usual face, trying to hide the darker circles under his eyes from lack of sleep. The manager was no fool and he gave another lecture, cursing under his breath that he'd have a talk with Eros later. If Dionysus was going to continue work there he'd have to be prompt, and not so lethargic or extremely boisterous. He was a walking bundle of energy which had frightened a few of the regulars.
Threatening Dionysus to get rid of that hangover fast he left the boy to the dishes. Sticking his hands back in the water Dionysus' grin grew a bit wider as his thoughts delved off. Maybe someone interesting would come in. As long as he wouldn't have to deal with another awkward moment with Althaia and her husband, he may make it okay. That night had been another one of catastrophe much to the manager's dislike with one of his prize customers. Luckily Dionysus had been able to pick up the dishes without much notice beyond the nice shoes. Althaia he was sure had noticed because he'd received a phone call five minutes later.
Maybe no dishes would touch the floor tonight.
