Cassandra had talked Helenus into taking her on a walk, because she wanted to get out of the house. As was their tradition from time to time, they had split up two blocks away from their house. Cassandra decided to go to the park, mainly because she had nowhere else to be. She was still excited about meeting Apollo, and just happy about life in general. The park and nature always helped her sort through her thoughts, and she was feeling giddy enough that she figured it would probably be a good idea to take a walk ( ... )

Persephone glanced up from the flowers as the girl sat down beside her and gave her a bright smile. All of her earlier anxiety had melted away long ago. Who could be anxious when surrounded by fresh air, brilliant colors and the sweet fragerance of summer flowers?

"Hello, I'm Persephone," she replied lightly, her eyes returning to the flowers. In most situations when she was alone, Persephone would be overcome with a sense of stranger danger. She had a huge problem with social anxiety most of the time, but not when she was busy with flowers. Unlike most children, Persephone never had a safety blanket or a stuffed toy she held onto. Persephone gravitated towards flowers, be they silk, live, or plush.

"Not many people usually branch out this far into the park," she said lightly, trying to make conversation. She was in a good mood, and good moods were for sharing.

Cassandra shrugged. "I know; that's why I come here. It's peaceful." She shifted so that her legs were wrapped around her and pointing to the side. She looked at Persephone sideways. She had already noted the shovel and now inspected the gardening work that Persephone was apparently in the middle of.

"What're you doing?" she asked, gesturing at the flowers. It seemed a better question than, I've never seen you before, probably because my father doesn't really like me associating with gardeners.

She looked over the flowerbed curiously. She had never done much gardening herself, besides one poor spider plant that had finally been rescued from her by her mother.

She glanced over at the girl beside her once more and gave a slight shrug. "Just digging," she replied blithly, giving the girl a careful once over.

For as long as she could remember, Persephone had been wary of strangers. Her mothers constant procolmations that if she wasn't careful a stranger would come and carry her away hadn't made it any better for her. Everyone was subjected to her careful scrutiny before she would reveal very much about herself. After years of practice, she was now very discreet about it, and very quick as well. The girl beside her gave her no sense of anything horrible, so she continued.

"I want to see if I can grow these in my greenhouse back at home."
