As alluded to in my CSA post...
In other news, I've been offered a full-time position at my company. It's third shift however, midnight to 8:30 Monday through Friday. The reason is because the guy who worked that shift gave his notice on Monday. His old company offered him a job with a HUGE pay increase, and he just bought a house. This will mean my weekends are free again (yay), but my sleep schedule is going to be so fucked. Once I get used to it during the week, I'll be fine. But if I wanted to KEEP to that schedule on the weekends, I'd sleep the day away. So that won't go over well with my body. BUT it's full time, with sick days and vacation and benefits. I'm just waiting to hear on those benefits before signing the offer letter. And, in fact, getting the offer letter. It may be waiting for me now, but I hadn't gotten it as of midday today (I got the call about the job yesterday but didn't take it, as I was busy doing CMs at the time and we had JUST STARTED, so I called him back this morning and that's when I got the offer).
I've also mentioned that I have already made plans to go away for a week at Thanksgiving, but a lot will depend on vacation and such. If I only get a week of vacation, then I won't be taking it right then. I'll save it for GenCon or something. If I get two, then we'll see. We could also manage a week without pay at this points, but we'll see. I knew this was going to happen. It would have been better if I got this offer AFTER Thanksgiving, of course! I wouldn't have been able to drive down with Lou (as we leave the Saturday before Turkey Day and come back the Monday after), but I could have come back with him. Now, I can leave on Saturday, but we'll have to come back on Sunday so I can head to work (pretty nearly once we get home; depending on traffic, I'll have a few hours to chill before I head to Monday work).
I do just really wish I could get a M-F 9-5 job, as it were. It made life SO MUCH EASIER. At least this shift doesn't rotate.
