CSA #2

Second farmshare! From left to right we have: pea shoots, Russian kale, napa cabbage, kohlrabi, peas, lettuce, and fresh cheese.

We did pretty well on clearing out most of the last CSA before today. I used the last of the lettuce with dinner; I forgot the scallions in the stir fry last week. I had some of the kohlrabi on a salad for lunch yesterday. I think we still have 2 strawberries left that we need to eat or toss. The eggs went in an omelet this weekend and I fried one up the day before. We still have about half of the sauteeing greens that I need to use up, and I saved the kohlrabi greens. But if we don't use them up by Saturday, I'll probably toss them. Oh yes! The kale went into Portuguese soup we made last night. I think I may try to make kale chips out of this batch of kale.

The peas will be combined with peapods and pasta with the roasted red pepper viniagrette I made last night. It's a bit too thick because I used up all the olive oil, and it probably could have used another 1/8-1/4 cup. I made this last year and it was a hit with Lou, so we'll be having that again on Friday. I need something else to go with it. I had thawed out what I thought was 2 chicken breasts but it ended up only being one, so I poached that tonight and I'll do something with it, maybe to go with the peas & pasta. Otherwise it's chicken salad prep.
