Castles in the Sky, balls, and procrastination

Well, first I should say that I've been doing a horrible job of catching up on work this weekend as planned. Instead I keep posting photos and updating all my personal online shit. This is good to some degree, as I have been horribly slack in doing so, but rather irresponsible of me in that I am really way behind on work. I just need to jump into it. You know how you can get so overwhelmed with shit that you just start ignoring it? Well, it is a dangerous path to go down and it only leads to depression, so I'm really going to try to deal with a bunch-o-shit today. Can't you tell? See how I start by writing in my journal?

The OLS photos are finally all posted. I must say there are some pretty good ones from the weekend this year, highlights including hot chix, O'Cow in a condom, lumberjaculation, the requisite silly hats, and more! The pictures are at http://unholymenace.com/index.php?cat=25.

One of my favorites is what I am dubbing, "The Ottawa Fence Climbing Phenomena". There was a barrier set up at the bottom of a hill by the Parliament Hill Park. There was no obvious reason for it, except, perhaps, to keep masses of people on the road from wandering across the grounds. Unfortunately, it was one of the more natural exit paths to take from the park if you were already inside it. So all of these people politely queued up to, er, climb the fence. I found it extremely strange, but perhaps it was just me. For some reason can't get it uploaded to YouTube, but that is here.

Er, where was I. So yesterday Jo and I did manage to go to Castles in the Sky, which was a fair bit like last year's Flight of Fancy, but maybe a bit bigger. Here's what I wrote about Flight of Fancy last year http://heinous.org/wolverog/?p=1001. Basically it is a giant, random street party, with no one knowing exactly where it is going to go, until it goes there. I'm pretty sure there are no permits for the thing. It is a lot of fun. I think the best part is to see the looks on people's faces as an enormous, noisy, party goes sashaying into the mall, or the subway, or randomly down a major street downtown. Jo had a flash of inspiration this year and acquired a giant beach ball, which got a lot of action for the party, and, amazingly, fit in the subway. I ended up carrying this giant flag (I'd put it at about 10 feet long). Do you know how difficult it is to get a flag of those dimensions onto a subway car without seriously injuring someone under crowded conditions? I also brought the harmonica, and tormented lots of people with bad renditions of O' My Darlin Clementine, and so on. I'm not very good at the harmonica, but I am enthusiastic.

Good fun was had, more fireworks were seen down by the lake as the party turned into a bit of a rave. I think this was the first rave that O'Cow has been to. We wandered off after I did a bit of bouncing around and the fireworks were complete. Here are some pictures of us, but of course the newmindspace.com website has links to lots more amazing photos.
