today, i feel pretty shitty. but it doesnt have anything to do with yesterday.
yesterday i got OC'd with most other campus safety people, but it was a little different. i have a job where i dont have to walk around campus and contact suspicious people. i work at the office. i have access to OC, and unlike safety officers, i dont have to be certified to use it. a description of certification can be found in Kit's journal, velcrorocks. for me, it felt like the most painful burning in the entire world. my face was on fire. once it was washed out of my eyes and i could keep them open, they were fine, but the rest of my face felt like i could peel it off as though it were a layer of ash. fire, it felt like i was on fire. supposedly fresh air helps, but when i got outside all i could do was cry and repeat the phrase it hurts so bad, it hurts so bad. finally i wasseated in front of a fan, and after 15 minutes in the cool breeze, i was alright. it gave me a monster headache though. i didn't have to do this. nobody does, but if you want to be able to use it,you should be sprayed with it.
a few days ago, while working my usual grave shift, a man wanders into the office carrying a 12 pack of coke. he offers to sell it to me for $2 so he can put gas in his car. it is 2:36 a.m. he appears to be dirty and drunk. he is wearing headphones held together with duct tape, a hat and he has drool coming out the corner of his mouth. he asks me to buy his soda, i ask him to leave. he asks if there is anyone further down the hall, i say no, that he should leave because no one wants to buy his soda. he says, "so you're here alone?" and he is drooling and leering. i called my Op Sup and he came and kicked the guy out for me. still, i was scared. i mean, i really could have been alone in the building. in fact just the night before i had been alone, and then who would have helped me? so, i decided that becoming OC certified couldnt hurt my chances of survival, and i'm glad i did it.
i feel stronger today than i have in a while. i know how to throw people off of me, and how to get them on the ground. i had some fun learning how to do it, too. and that is that.
