girls day out and up-coming movie updates

Watched the fifth installment of Harry Potter this morning with sophiac. We caught the 11:30am show, which was the first show at town center. She got there a few minutes before i did, so she bought the tickets for us. I wasn't expecting much of a crowd since it was a weekday and it was early morning (for me, anyway) but apparently harry potter is worth cutting class. Not that I wouldn't have done the same were I still in college. We got seats at the farthest row despite my tardiness, which is better than craning our necks up in front.

I am excited with the trailers they showed before the film. Neil Gaiman's "Stardust" and another fantasy film, "The dark is Rising". More good movies for this year!

This is the first movie where Luna Lovegood's character is introduced and Evanna Lynch delivered! I loved the dream-like quality in her voice. Ginny Weasley's magic scenes caught our attention (was she that powerful in the books?) that by the end of the movie, Sophie and I were Ginny-fangirls. Yes, we were actually squealing in the theater. There were some scenes in the movie that were a bit off meaning I need to re-read my books five and six.

We grabbed a late lunch at Pho Hoa, topped off by a cup of coffee. We headed over to PC Express since sophie was looking for some stuff for work. We deposited her buys in her car, lugged ourselves back to the mall, and plopped down at starbucks for more coffee and some needed rest. Since she was looking for a coffee mug we went to Rustan's, where we got sidetracked by all the beautiful kitchen items and dishes on display. I so want my own place. And not just because I want a valid reason to buy nice china.

Our last stop was the supermarket for some milk and coffee and then to Powerbooks. They finally had the Lonely Planet book I had been looking for. I grabbed that and sophie got herself a book as well. I went home afterwards since it was near dinnertime and my mom was already wondering if I had any intention of coming home :D

I adored the 2005 version of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. So I'm ecstatic to learn that they're making the other books into movies as well. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian is scheduled for spring of next year while The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by 2009.
