I guess with the amount I use my voice, and with the way I use it, it was to be expected that I would have vocal problems, yet still I feel shocked. It turns out I have nodes all along my vocal cords, and that's why I'm having such hoarseness. My doctor prescribed strict vocal rest, dear lord is this going to be hard. I'm trying to be positive, but the image of me being quiet is laughable. I just don't see it happening. She says that once she gets a closer look at my vocal cords, by putting a camera in my throat and watching how they work as I speak, she will send me to a voice therapist, who will hopefully teach me a new way in which to use my voice.

So, I guess we'll see what happens. Hopefully the nodes aren't too bad, but here's something hilarious. So, the way that they look at your vocal cords without the camera thing, is by taking a small mirror, like a dentist has, heating it, then pulling out your tongue, sticking the mirror to the soft spot at the back of your throat (you know, the thing that triggers your gag reflex), and then they tell you to say "EEE". Holy moses! Not something that works for me, I seriously almost puked on the doctor, and then my mom was sitting there cracking up because she says I sounded ridiculous. Geez! Thanks mom, always helpful. Oh well, anyway I'm off to sleep early, at least when I'm sleeping, I'm not talking.
