So, something that I have been working on in not-so-secret:
SAVE THE DATE
Announcing ReBoot: A Bootblack Weekend!
I am pleased to announce that from March 11th - 13th 2011, in Chicago, IL we will have ReBoot: A Bootblack Weekend.
Have you ever felt like you don’t get to just hang out with your fellow bootblacks because somebody is always shining, coordinating, competing, and/or volunteering?
Have you ever felt like it can be difficult to advance your bootblacking education, with ‘Bootblacking 101’ classes running wild?
Well, I have, and as a result Tim Starkey, some folks from different regions of the US and Canada (featuring: Jayson DaBoi, David Shorey, Susy, Henry James, and Margaret), and I are working to put together an event that will allow the Bootblack Community to come together and bond without the added pressures of an event that is not completely bootblack oriented.
The goal of this event is to be a weekend for bootblacks, by bootblacks. We hope that between asking you for your opinions and having people from different regions help to plan the event, we will be able to put together an event that is not only reflective of our community needs but that is also a relaxed, fluid, and dynamic event that allows us, as a community, to come together, grow, and strengthen our bonds with one another, our work as bootblacks, and the larger Leather community.
So, please, save the date! More details (and questions) are coming!
I am totally nervous about it right now, cause I just made it public. And now I am obsessively checking things for support/dissent.
But, seriously, I really like the people who I am working with. I like the very fluid direction that the event is heading. I just hope everybody else does.
