This morning during a Grade 10 Math Class I listened to four girls discuss a "kegger" they were planning on attending tonight. They noted the address, the person's name who was throwing the kegger, and the hopes of getting "hammered".
I laughed out loud. They were going on and on and I was standing right there.
OK, sure- we all went to keggers. (well, not me. I was a loser but we'll save that for another LJ post) We all drank illegally. But did we sit IN class with teachers and EAs around and discuss MINUTE details? If people do, that's so dumb.
It's funny to think how students have NO idea you can hear them in the halls, hear their discussions and watch them do all of the things that they wouldn't do if you realized you could see or hear. It is the most HILARIOUS thing I have ever witnessed.
I always wondered when I was in High School how teacher's didn't pick up on things. The fact is THEY DID, they just never said anything because if they did they wouldn't have the ability to laugh at us behind our backs.
I love teaching.
I wish now I had said something to those girls, something sarcastic and witty...a threat to crash the party or something. I was laughing to hard, I guess...
