Spring Break Update-Madison

Mar 10, 2005 23:13

This will be a longish one, I am warning you now. Saturday morning I left bright and early on the badger bus to go see Sarah. While I was waiting for the bus to come a blind man came into the bus depot. Now I know what you're thinking- am I really that much of a bitch that I am going to make blind people jokes just because a blind man came in? No that is not why I bring it up at all. The reason I bring it up was that the blind man was in fact not a real blind man!! I'm not even kidding. He read the paper, checked his watch and did various other things that would require seeing. If he really wanted to take his dog (which was a cute puppy and very friendly) on the bus he should have just asked and not have acted as though he were blind. Got into Madison and waited for Sarah where upon her arrival I ran towards her but it was a very pathetic run as it I was burdened with my backpack and pillow and, well, let's just say it was not of movie caliber. We dropped my stuff back at her room and then proceeded to go shopping on state street. We literally went all the way up state street- we were on the steps of the capital and touched forward. On the way back down the other side who should we run into but Mike. This was funny considering that he was supposed to be in Iowa and Nate was going to visit him in a few days, but it turned out that he was only there for the weekend visiting Randi and so it didnt matter that he was there. Sarah and I bought matching shirts, had lunch and then went back to her room where we waited for Craig who will from now on be called Craigery. It annoys him to no end and thus it is his name. :)
We chilled in Sarah's room for a bit- ok a long bit, it took sarah an insane amount of time to find what to wear and pick out jewelry etc and then she insisted on doing my hair all the while with Craig and me laughing at her and stealing things from her. Something sarah quickly realized- she should never have brought craigery and i into close contact, we will make her life insane. We grabbed some pizza at rocky's and then everyone else went to stand in line for the concert we were going to while sarah, craig and i went to get alcohol for afterwards. Sarah and i were going to pretend that we were very stealth and didn't know craig upon passing him so that we could just get the alcohol but it didn't work because we both started giggling. Dropped the alcohol off at craigery's and then back to the place where the concert was. When we finally got inside (after craigery and i stole sarah's id and sarah and i jumped around) they were playing Matt Nathanson!!! Such fun and obviously a sign that the concert was going to rock. Which it did. The PRofits opened, which was a surprise for me because sarah forgot to tell me they were until we were on state street that afternoon and i freaked out in GAP. Oh my ode to bongo drum boy. I was probably six feet away from him tops and the whole time drooling. I hope my pics or sarah's pics turned out because that boy is just too hot and sexy for his own good. Afterward Stephen Kellogg who I am now obsessed with. When I went to take my pic with the lead singer he had me tango with him! How cool is that? AND he's opening for Ari in two weeks which made both sarah and i veyr happy and giddy (please note: this was before either of us had consumed any alcohol). Jackie (who we ran into at the concert which made my night because as jackie and i always say, we dont spend enough time togheter (we usually say this when one of us is trashed but still, the sentiment is there)), Sarah, Craigery and I went back to Craig's place where we played asshole and got plastered. Well, Sarah and I got plastered REALLY FAST. Soon we were dancing and singing and laughing and calling people we shouldn't have been calling. Sarah started feeling not too hot and I went into mom mode for the rest of the night. IT was weird, the worst I have ever felt when drinking and i was still able to be a very capable mom, i think. IN between caring for sarah with craig, jackie and i had very interesting convos. One of which over what spin the bottle would be like with our group. (our conclusion- it would be like this: spin, look at who it was, say ew do i have to, spin again, repeat) Finally got back to sarah's room at about four at which point sarah and i collapsed on her futon and somehow craig managed to climb in her bed. I still don't know how he managed to do that but I give him mad props for being able to get into a lofted bed at four am slightly intoxicated.
The next morning we woke up and sarah and i bonded on the floor of a bathroom stall. good times. went back to bed then woke up again and forced craig to climb down and watch the west wing with us. a very good episode- i cried. after that was over we kept the tape on because there was a very old olympics taped on the tape. we saw bonnie blair win won of her medals and laughed at all the ridiculous hair and clothing. lots and lots of mullets, let me just say that. Conned craigery into checking bus times for me and then rushed to actually make my bus. I'm really glad I went to madtown. it was fun and all but more importantly i didn't realize how much i needed a sarah fix. there's just something about the person who, the minute you get off the bus says, i like your new hair but let me just tweak it and who gives you her oreos even though she likes them too and who will, even drunk, keep an eye on your cell phone to make sure that certain phone calls from new years won't be repeated. to put it simply, she knows me more then i'd like to admit and probably more then i even know myself and a day with her soothes my soul. not to mention the fun craigery and i had pulling stuff over on her- i swear it only took nineteen years and craig to be able to defend myself against sarah :). Other things that make me happy- dancing to the darkness and it is on now so i must dance because it reminds me of happy times at loyola with a certain bonobono.
