Today we went on an excursion to a the Museum Brady in downtown Cuernavaca. It was basically a house of a really rich American collector guy who liked Mexico so much he decided to live there. He collected artwork from all over the world and displayed it all over the walls of his house. It was really cool. There was one room that was kinda Indian themed and also had artwork from Japan and Korea and obviously lots from India. He displayed it rather randomly. There was also this tour guide dude who just started showing us extra stuff and telling us more information, but most of the group missed out on that of course. It was really pretty; I’ll post pictures eventually.
Then my roommate wanted to eat Chinese food, so we got on a bus that we thought was heading to the centro, but it had already been through there so it started taking us further away. Luckily we passed someplace that we recognized that someone else said was close to a Chinese restaurant. We never found the place and in the end were so hungry that we ate at a Mexican place and Amanda (that’s my roommate’s name if I haven’t mentioned it before) ordered a hamburger and I ordered a Torta, which is kinda like a sandwich. Oh and Malissa, there are sandwiches that I don’t like. The ones that she makes us happen to have the type of bread that is very easily squished in the backpack, so of course it is always squished and thy only have one slice of ham, and a thick slice of cheese, so it’s more of a cheese sandwich than a ham sandwich and I don’t like it. But I don’t think she’ll give us those anymore except for on excursions because I’m finally done with the social work class!!! I’m also done with the equivalent to one semester of Spanish.
Today our mother left us cream of some sort of green squash on the stove for us to heat up (she’s made cream of cauliflower and cream of broccoli soups, there’s actually all good as long as I have crackers to eat with it because otherwise the soup is very smooth and it doesn’t feel like there is anything to it). She has a gas stove that you have to light with a match, and well I’m not very good with matches but my roommate was having worse luck that me. So I would light a match and then throw it onto the burner and then we would turn it on because we were afraid to do it the other way. We got it lit once and had it cooking for a while and then Amanda tried to adjust the temperature and accidently turned it off, so of course we had to start the whole process over again. Most of the time when we lit a match it was too far away from the burner and it would go out without lighting the burner. It was an experience. I’m super tired again.
