If at first you don't succeed...
So its warm weather, he's nearly 3.5 and we just bought the Car underwear in 4t. Can you guess what I am doing this week?
Yesterday we tried underwear after nap, and had one accident. And DH convinced him to sit on the potty after dinner (yes there was cajoling involved).
Today I am going for it, cause tommorow is a school day and I am not sending him out of the house with underwear til he is reasonably trained at home. I figure when he's at home we will just wear underwear and sweatpants/shorts (or pj pants when I run out :) ). This is the only way I can conceive of to make dirty diapers unpleasant for him, is to get him used to being dry in underwear. They just don't seem to bother him, so I hope this works.
My plan is to set a timer and go sit whenever the timer goes off. That way I am not the bad guy for interrupting play - the timer is.
I may also set up a sticker reward system and let him earn toys that he likes, but I think that is after he decides he doesn't like the mess in his diapers.
I am prepared to deal with messes today - but wish me patience and luck, so they are not terrible.
Edit: So far one accident (when I went ot get Steven awake), but the timer is really working. Its getting easier after 3 hours. We are doing every 20 minutes for now.
