It's raining and Raenef sits curled up in a tight ball, his thin clothes soaked and plastered to his thin body. His eyes are squeezed shut as he tries so hard to ignore the cramping pains coming from his stomach. Three days have passed by since he last managed to eat and his stomach is letting him know it's empty. He sobs as his body shivers against the cold and he knows he can't seek shelter, because like a rat, he'll just be shoo'd away. He tries to remember what life was life before this, but it's blank, he can't think. He's scared, even now, even as he's been on the streets for as long as he can remember. It never gets easier, only harder.
Raenef looks up at the sound of a door bursting open and sees the shop keeper come storming out with a broom.
"How many times have I got to tell you to clear away from my shop! I don't want your filthy kind scaring off ma customers, git!"
[Scene blends into another...]
"Raenef! Run!"
Raenef runs as instructed, the clear sounds of hurried footsteps creep closer behind him. He's got to make it! He has to! But he doesn't. Instead of ducking down a tight alley, Raenef trips and falls to the ground, he winces at the feeling of the ground scrap the skin of his knees, but that worry is for another time. He cries out as a pair of strong hands grab his shoulders, his heart hammers in his chest as he panics, what was going to happen now?
"Look here! Vermin on the run, eh?"
Tears swelled up in his eyes as he struggles to break free.
"L-Let me go!"
[Raenef sits up and cries out, panting and shaking, he wip[es away the sweat from his forehead and curls up. Biting his bottom lip, he closes his eyes tightly and cries himself back to sleep.]
