between being a full-time student, part-time barista, and full-time gf i have been too busy to...breathe! but in a good way. i feel really content and disciplined and productive for the first time in a long time/ever?
my car got towed in long beach on tuesday and i got it back on saturday. it was the biggest pain in my ass i've had in forever. it made me cry for the first time since like april, mostly because the car is registered in my dad's name and he was upset at the time and said that he wasn't going to do the paperwork to get it back, and i was stuck in downtown long beach for 3 days. but he did the paperwork and i paid the $200 fee and now all is well again.
tonight is dinner with krystal, her mom, and our matchmaker, cate. it will be fun, they are all brilliant women. OH MAN. krystal and i are going on a loaded bike tour next summer after i graduate. we are doing it
ditty bops style. just us, some road bikes, a backpack and tent, digital SLR, video camera and vegan food. we will get clothes at thrift stores where we can find them and sleep under the stars for two weeks and talk to everyone we can. perfect? yeah. we were thinking flagstaff/sedona or TJ to ensanada or something. i did 80 miles in 8 hours and it wasn't toooo bad so we're kind of basing our trip on 10MPH units. we will create a website and post our pictures and videos and journals on it.
has anyone ever heard of
deezer.com? you can stream tons of different CDs. it's really convenient and free and there are no hassles. they don't have everything (no dear nora) but the titles they do have aren't bad. haha speaking of dear nora, i see katy all over the place. but mostly art shows. i got my friend michael into her and now they are friends. michael is the boy dear nora. dear michael. actually his performing name is "i read her journal." he got it off of the miranda july blog somewhere, i think she was talking about reading khaela's blog or something. blah blah blah.
also, has anyone heard the mirah & spectratone international CD and can relate to my intense love for it?! it's all autobiographical accounts of insects = <3. microcosmos: le peuple de l'herbe. that's what it reminds me of, this amazing french documentary of sorts. anthropromorphizing (i need to work that into a scrabble game) bugs. they make a slug battle over territory seem like a romanesque battle. set to dramatic opera music. a must-see i'd say.
krystal and i hung out with megan and julie in SD this weekend, it was funny/fun. burnt tires! no, pollo asada! megan has the nose of a bloodhound. her hearing is another story though. just kidding megan.
paper time! problematizing lesbian filmmaking while addressing the historical importance of it. it will be interesting.
