Can I strangle my horse??????

lol..not really..but BOY is he testing me today...

I came home to find the sliding door on my barn open...and Riot, merrily dragging random things out of the barn and plopping them throughout the field. -_-

The sliding door has 2 eye hook type latches...one inside and one outside. He had to have undone BOTH to get the door open...Outside one is easy access, which is why I put the inside one in....in a spot I THOUGHT was out of reach of wiggly lips...apparently not.

He had also flicked the lightswitch on, so the barn lights were on...

What all did I find out in the mud?

One of my saddles....both saddle racks...a spool of electric fencing (the yellow tape kind)...3 halters, a bridle, a couple of sets of reins, all of my leadropes, one of the lungelines, a shovel, my manure fork, a hat that I'd left out there and a bundle of rope I have.

I called my mom to find out if he was in the barn this morning before she left for work, and she said they were both standing at the gate and she gave them some hay before she went to work at 7:30am...it normally takes them an hour or so to eat their hay when she gives it to them...so by 8:30am they were done...and I got home a bit after 9:30am....

And the booger didn't even come over to get his grain when I got here! He was too busy making a big mess. RAAAWR!!!

And I about fell flat on my face several times when I hit some deep muddy spots...for the most part it's muddy in the front lot, but not too deep, but there are puddles and pockets where you really sink a foot into....and my right foot is still sore from where I broke it in Jan. So that was a blast and a half. I managed to get his grain into the barn in a stall and tied him up in there while I did cleanup. I think I got everything....Nothing else seemed to be missing. Thank goodness a lot of my smaller things such as polos, boots, bits, and the sort are in rubbermaid tubs....in the hay mow!

No...this isn't the first time he's done this...(which is why I store the grain in our garage and not in the barn)....but it's the first time he's done this when it's all gross and muddy and pouring down rain. Usually he's a good boy and only does it in the summer...when the ground is dry...and the sun is shining...

Now Gypsy...she was being a good little pony and standing in a stall, out of the rain, looking sweet and innocent. You could just tell she was thinking "I want no part of this....I do not want to get into trouble..."

At least I have a sense of humor and can appreciate Riot's sense of humor as well....even when he does something this...goober-ish! Guess I'll just have to put more latches on the door...perhaps I can get one that locks(with a key...I wouldn't put it past him to figure out a combination lock.)...
