crumbs in the bed

Yesterday after work manuel picked my sister and i up from work and drove us to my parents house. so my parents my sisters manuel assorted relatives and i walked to castle hills elem. to see a play at giulis school called "AMERICAN HERITAGE"
"in 1492 columbus discovers america" it starts.
the room is decked out in the obvious 3 colors. nati stashes some american flag stickers in her purse to later plant her anarchy signs despite my requests not to.
i couldnt help but think about those 14 plus 2 provisions. who our beloved president had enacted into law just that morning. what a way to celebrate.

nati has this obsessive personality so when she gets stuck on a project she pursues it as passionately close to the end as possible. heh. (see also "nati's Frida stage")
she explained to me during the dinner before the play that she had collected sales information from her school and found out that in a month over 5000 plastic bottles are thrown away at Lee H.S. and why dont they have a recycle bin. even though she got the principal to say he'd "think about it" (are you serious? what is there to think about?) she impatiently decided she couldnt wait until after spring break for her answer and rounded up her friends to dig through trash cans and circle the lunch tables for any recyclables.
upon telling me this story she looks down at her own plastic plate, burger long gone. "do you think theyre recycling these?"
next thing i know
nati runs home comes back w hands full of garbage bags and there you go. we (notice the "we", it became a group effort, 8 of us total. she even recruited a parent somehow) spent the rest of the evening dumping out soda cans stacking plates and digging through trash (well..i left that part to the woman in charge)
it was a disaster though. im sure the custodian hates us. he sure looked confused enough. where we dumped the soda and water bottles out started to overflow and left this watered down syrupy mess all over the floor and on the way home the trash bags burst (we were walking mind you)
now my parents the goddamn hippies were beaming with pride the whole time and retelling the story to whoever would listen.
in the mean time nati and i try to convince each other to go in on the silos as sisters. the three of us, nati lita and i.
nati can write and sew pretty damn well, lita is an incredible painter and better photographer, i can...er, well when they time comes we shall see.
