Hey. Want to go out for dinner tonight? [ A brief pause. ] I'm going to talk to everyone about leaving the force and I think, maybe after that... I want to do something really nice.

This might come as a surprise, but I'm thinking of leaving the police force. Before Beckett left the City, she and I agreed that I was the best person to take over the job as Chief of Police, but it was never meant to be forever, and lately, I've come to think that it might be more useful to the City at large if I were to focus on what is actually my field of expertise, namely law. A criminal code for the City would go a long way to establishing legal certainty and giving the work the police force - we - do every day more legitimacy, particularly if it is accepted by the City's population.
I'm not going to quit from one moment to the next, obviously. That's not why I'm mentioning this. What I'm asking is-- could one of you imagine leading the police force?
