One of those weekends again. It's a good list.

That figures. [Teasing and amused now,] And I'm so glad you approve of the ways I like to spend my time.

Hey, now if you're ever down I know exactly how to make you smile, Pretty Girl. So yeah, I approve.

That's really sweet of you, Derek. Still, I'd rather use these ways to prevent me from ever being down.

That would be the ideal, yeah.

A girl can dream, right?

Dreaming is good. Never quit that.

You seem to be in a good mood. I like that.

I'm not much of a dreamer, to be honest. But sometimes... [If a voice could shrug...]

Harpy infestation is over, most people managed to survive it in one piece, including me, ... yeah, I suppose I'm having a good day. How 'bout yourself?

Well dreams have aspirations in them, wishes and hopes... they make us human. I'll admit to sometimes letting my imagination go off on what could be.

Ding good. Reid stitched up my shoulder and that's a little tight right now. But after a few more days, I should have full mobility back so no reason to be complaining right now.

I do that, too. Sometimes. Usually, I try to be a realist. If it's achievable, it's not just dreaming. At least not in my definition.

Shoulder wound? From my great depth of experience with injuries, I know those hurt like hellemons. Does that mean you won't be up for cheap Chinese and drinks tonight if I invited you? Or are you made of harder stuff?

My whole job is based on assumptions and possibilities instead of reality... mostly cause we're in search of reality. So I guess I'm used to thinking all around reality instead of directly at it unless I absolutely have to.

You asking me out on a dinner date, Pretty Girl? Cause I'm made of pretty hard stuff.

It's different for a public prosecutor. For any lawyer, really. We have to work with what we've got, but make it somehow fit what we want to achieve. Convincing a jury that the view we're presenting is the right and good and real one is just part of that.

If you count cheap Chinese as a dinner date, yeah, I'm asking you out. Gotta spread my good cheer around, don't you think?

Yeah, you gotta work with the facts or the opposing side will call you on it.

I'm glad you thought of me then. It's a date.

At least if the opposing side has good lawyers. Which is usually the case, so, yeah.

How could I not?

Cause I'm sure there are a lot of other people you could have asked. Makes a guy feel a little bit special.
