How to roll all sevens with a band saw

Some fool at work can consider himself the luckiest man in the state for what he did this morning.

We have a big rod cutting machine that...well, cuts rods. A band saw is situated inside the machine, along with some sort of clamping mechanism which holds the metal rod in place while the band saw cuts it in measured segments (I think this is the model right here. For some reason, this guy had to stick his right arm inside the small square hole that the rod goes into, which leads into the cabin containing all the working machinery. That's when he gets it clamped down and stuck. I wasn't there when it actually happened, but only learned of it after seeing the thirty or so people crowded around the scene trying to help the man out. Members from maintenance were running around trying to get tools from around the plant to get the clamping mechanism open, and I swear I thought it was going to end with some of the plant's ERT members rushing him to an isolated room with a stump leading up to his elbow. Luckily though, it ended with his whole arm intact and a trip to the hospital.

He may be okay, but his job might not be. The company may now consider him a liability for doing something that foolish. Oh, and his fingers didn't come out of there unharmed: the only thing lost was the very tip of one of his fingers. VERY. VERY. LUCKY!
