TV LICENSING (again)

Apr 14, 2005 16:32

In spite of us having actively canceled our TV license and having received a refund, I keep receiving the bullying junk mail" buy a TV license or else"/ I'm rather ferd up. Remind me again: who do I complain to and how?

Is there a phone number on the back of your old liscence (or if you get a licence from the post office) you can ring and bitch at for the threatening mail? Otherwise there should or may-be a phone number or address on the bullying junk mail you can return the post to..

The TV licencing board did that to us even though we HAD a licence (we didn't get the man round though demanding entrance (by the way they don't have the authority to enter your home without your permission. They are not the police).

Neither would the police, to the best of my understanding. (Without a search warrent).

There is a phone number given, but on every occassion I've tried to ring they've either been closed or I've given up on waiting.

I believe sobrique had an actual name at one point.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention. There isn't a 'complaints' or 'information' phone number - the only one given is the 'you can call and buy a licence on' number. I've never found out if you can do anything else when you finally get through, because I've never had the patience to succeed.

The fact that someone might legitimately not want a licence does not appear to be an option on most of their letters - which is also why I want to complain about them in the first place...

you can write and say that you dont own a TV. They will then reply and call you a liar.

Once they have been to your home and assessed that you don't have a TV they have to leave you alone for a year. That's why they don't come round and check. It provides a loop-hole. We tried retunring their mail addressed to us, but then they started writing to 'the occupier' instead. As far as I know, the best you can do is demand they come and assess you.
