So, in looking over the most recent batch of speeches from my students, I realized I hadn't shared their topics with my LJ. I'm sure many of you out there might not care, but I do think that it is interesting (and occasionally amusing).

This speech was a persuasive speech in the form "X should do Y".

The topics were:

You should vote.
Baseball should institute a salary cap.
You shouldn't drive while using your cell phone.
You should not smoke.
The US should reform schools to emphasize content over testing.
You should exercise.
You should have your future children learn a musical instrument.
You should volunteer locally.
You should not use corporal punishment with your future children.
You should use condoms during sex.
You should not support media sources that spread lost common denominator celebrity gossip.
You should support realistic media images of women.
You should support anti-bulling programs in our schools.
You should take a self-defense class.
The US should recognize the Armenian Genocide of Turkey.
The US should increase support for its public schools.
The US should increase opportunities for "qualified" illegal immigrants to become citizens.
The US should legalize physician assisted suicide.
You should become a vegetarian.
The US should require comprehensive sex education in all high schools.
Parents and teachers should become more active in combating cyber-bullying.
You should support organically produced food.
The NCAA should end the BCS system.
You should support humane societies via animal adoption or volunteering.
Everyone should increase their support for nuclear power.

An interesting collection...
