I’m about as angry as a person can get without exploding.
My daughter teaches language arts to middle school kids (she’s a reading resource teacher and works with underachieving readers). The school she works in is close to the city and not in the best neighborhood but that’s where you mostly find underachieving students so that’s where she works.
Today a student poured hand sanitizer in my daughter’s drink while my daughter had stepped out of the classroom. A 7th grade girl thought it would be funny to make her sick. My daughter thought the soda tasted “off” but she has a bad sinus infection and everything is tasting “off” right now. When her mouth starting burning and she became nauseated, she asked a student she trusts if anything happened when she was out of the room. The student told her what happened. Another student corroborated it.
The entire class is bullied by this girl. She is always intimidating them and acts like it’s her classroom. Despite repeated requests by my daughter for a meeting with her parents, they’re blind to the fact that “their baby” is a problem child.
Well, my daughter is pressing charges and I hope to heck this opens their eyes. But the kid is 13 so it’s not like much will happen.
I want to go beat her parents up.
Oh, and the assistant principal, who said to my daughter “Well, you leave an open soda and bottle of Purell next to each other. You’re asking to be poisoned.”
