Hedgehogs In Pennsylvania (PLEASE READ!)

Feb 19, 2009 12:13

Hi, I just joined and as much as I LOVE hedgehogs I don't have one. Why?

Because I live in Pennsylvania. They are completely illegal here. Why?

Because they're "not native". There are plenty of stories of breeders and even just owners having their homes raided and their hedgies confiscated and "destroyed". This is terrible, tragic, and makes my heart very sad.

Please sign these petitions:

And please send an email to our Governor, Ed Rendell:

There are other states that have banned hedgehogs, but some of them, like Arizona and Hawaii, are legitimate (as far as I can tell) because of their climate (California doesn't really allow anything..). Pennsylvania is not one of those. And frankly, I don't have much interest in other states' laws. I just want a hedgie!!

EDIT: Apparently hedgies aren't the only animals are at risk:

Gotta love how the laws are so vague and open for interpretation. It leaves them open to pick and choose what they want to enforce... Makes me so f'in mad!

illegal: pennsylvania, illegal states
