On a wholly unrelated note, I have once again violated my gaming principles and done something that I implied I never would. I attended a vampire larp.
Before you all start vomiting and waving the decontaminants at me, allow me to simply state that the objective is to have fun, and in that sense, it was fairly successful. Furthermore, while I think that the paper-rock-scissors is a retarded mechanic for resolution, is it any less geeky and non-simulating than dice? I've done boffer larp before, and while it's fun and makes you actually work for it, it has its own limitations (namely, that you're not striking to kill, but rather simply goofing around with sword-shaped foam). In addition, I met some really neat people, so the night was hardly a loss. Don't knock it 'till you've tried it.
