80's Meme

Feb 20, 2008 23:45

Like many of you, I just did the 80's meme. In addition, I got additional laughs by browsing the internet for reminders of the 80s. Check this list out especially 35-37 and 55-56

80s Meme
My Younger Years

1. How old were you in 1980?
5 (Kindergarden)

2. How old were you in 1989?
13 (Freshman year in HS)

3. Were you a Toys 'R' Us kid?
No, more a Kmart kid.

4. Did you watch Transformers?
Same as Liz here: Not really, my brother did though so I guess by default I did.

5. Did you see E.T. on the big screen?
Yes

6. Did you own a Lite Brite?
Yes!

7. Who is your favorite Golden Girl?
Rose

8. When someone says "Who you gonna call?" you think?
Ghostbusters!

9. What was your favorite toy?
Maybe my bike or a toy horse or the plastic sheet that turned a card table into a cabin. I don't remember a lot of toys, but I don't feel deprived. Interesting given the sheer number of toys Brady has.

10. Did you have a Pogo Ball?
No. Somebody around us did though...maybe a neighbor kid.

11. Did you listen to New Kids on the Block?
Nope. Not really into music much, esp when the New Kids were all the rage.

12. What New Kid did you have a crush on?
None.

13. Did you play M.A.S.H?
Oh yeah.

14. Did you watch The Care Bears?
Not much.

15. Did you have jelly bracelets?
Yes. I think I missed out on the shoes though.

18. Did you ever own a slap bracelet?
Nope.

19. The Breakfast Club or Sixteen Candles?
The Breakfast Club

20. Did you have a crazy hair style?
Nothing I'm ashamed to admit...the bangs were a little big in jr. high and I'd use benders or braid my hair to get the "perm" look. I was always too chicken to actually perm my hair.

21. What was your first bike?
A blue bike with a black banana seat. In jr. high I rode my 10 speed to school until I got hit by a car. On the bright side, I got to buy a new bike and got a cool new cruiser (with speeds) which was what all the cool kids in Huntington Beach, CA were riding. That bike went to college with me...very fitting for UC Santa Barbara.

22. Name one thing you still own from your childhood?
Cabbage Patch doll.

23. Did you have a Cabbage Patch Kid?
Yes. One and a half. (My brother and I "shared" a baby boy one which is now in Brady's room...he could care less about it but it might come in handy when we start talking about the baby more).

25. Rainbow Brite or Strawberry Shortcake?
Definitely Strawberry Shortcake. Anyone remember Monchhichis?

26. Did you watch Miami Vice?
Once in a while if my parents weren't around. Definitely watched tons of A-Team and Knight Ridder though.

28. Did you own a Trapper Keeper?
I don't think I did...maybe one year.

29. Atari or Nintendo?
Definitely Atari. Guy bought one off ebay about 4 years ago along with a bunch of games. It's probably still in his office at work (which is where we played it most...it was a hit with all the techy geeks he works with).

30. Did you play Pac-Man?
I was the best in my family. My brother's game was Frogger.

31. Which was better: Jem and The Holograms or Barbie and The Rockers?
I dunno.

32. He-Man or She-Ra?
He-Man. Got sucked in because of my brother, but I watched my fair share without him around.

33. What movie scared you the most?
Star Trek #2 (that ear thing still wigs me out)

34. Did you try to dance like Michael Jackson?

38. Did you ever beg your parents to have your school picture taken with
no

39. Do you know what the Ninja Rap is?
Nope

40. Do you know why people cringe when they hear the word BUCKNER?
Huh?

41. Can you name the family members from the National Lampoon's Vacation movies?
Probably not.

42. Did you have pump sneakers?
No, but my brother did.

43. Did you own HYPER COLOR shirts?
