I love TiVo. A Lot.

Also, apologies for the "was all" thing in advance. This is what happens when I start reading online about the California accent while I try to get to the bottom of why several Californians I know say measure in such a way that the first syllable rhymes with way. As opposed to sounding the same as the vowels in meh.

(Incidentally, any linguists, amateur or otherwise, want to take that one on, I'd be very appreciative. Because not knowing is driving me *nuts*. Along the way, I did learn that using like was likely a California thing that spread, but using all in the same way is apparently still a California thing that hasn't spread. Huh. who knew? Well, linguists did, that's who.

Also, watching Cold Case while thinking about regionalisms is a problem. The episode I last watched mentioned WaWa which just made me giggle with glee.)

So I just called TiVo to cancel monthly service on my two TiVo units that died. (I'd already replaced one with an HD ready unit, which uses cable cards and is all kinds of awesomesauce.)

We will not speak about the irritation I felt that both of my TiVo units died within months of each other.

And then I was annoyed because there was no way to cancel monthly service on the website.

But, and it's an important but, when I called to cancel monthly service on the two dead units, which I kept forgetting to do, the person from TiVo was all "I'm sorry to hear that. It's a shame to let those service plans go to waste since that's a lower rate than we offer now. Would you like to exchange those for new units?"

And I was like "Well, I already replaced one."

And she was all "Well, I can try to process the exchange on the older unit so you wouldn't even have to send it back, because it's so old [yes, yes, I know that],and we'd replace it with a two tuner unit."

And I was like "and how much would that cost?"

And she said "49 dollars."

And, because I know a good deal when I see it, I was all "Sign me up."

Dude. Dude. I had no idea TiVo would do that! how much does that rock?

So in 6 to 7 business days I will have a second two tuner TiVo unit, to go with the cable box I have (still), and I will be able to record, wait for it, FOUR PROGRAMS AT ONCE!

I am a tech savvy media fan--hear me roar. Or at least hear me bloooeep. (my sad attempt to approximate the TiVo noise.)

I am passing this info on because, well, I expect that people on my friends list are more likely to have old TiVos that may also die, so, I thought you all might be interested in that information.
