Anti-OTP: Viola/Hedda

*Hedda is bored. And, as anyone who has read the play would know, boredom and Hedda don't mix well. And so it would be a very good thing for someone to come talk to her*

*and here's Viola, the picture of ladylike daintyness in her antiquated noblewoman's dress, but there is recognition on her face when she speaks -- she recognizes that boredom, that restlessness, and sympathizes* Good day, madam. *all pleasant politeness, of course, with the appropriate reservation for a woman approaching a stranger, but the wish for company, for something new, is evident*

*Often, she doesn't particularly like talking to those of her own gender, but she can see that there's something more to Viola, though she has no idea what* Oh, don't call me madam! It makes me feel like some tiresome old matron. Hedda will do just fine. *pause* And what should I call you?

Viola, if it please you. *she makes a perfectly proper curtsy, but there's a moment of hesitation first -- it's a moment Viola has become very familiar with, the one where she reminds herself not to bow*

*laughs* I suppose it pleases me well enough. *and doesn't get up, either to curtsey or bow* So, what's your story?

*wry smile* A long one, and far from simple.

*gives her an equally wry one in return* Those are the best kind.

Mayhap for a tale. Not always for a life.

But if those things make it a glorious life, then...

Not so glorious, though strange. *faint smile* Yet I have been happy.

A strange life, not glorious but happy...sounds fascinating. And rare.

*shrugs* It was not always happy, yet my luck has changed and made it so. Is it so rare as that?
