OOC: Spider Jerusalem: a tell all expose!

Oct 18, 2008 00:40

- Born and raised in the narrows, Spider Jerusalem takes it one step further as one on a very very short list of infants born within the walls of Arkham Asyluim. His mother believed him to be a giant, writhing, white spider when he was brought to her to hold. The name stuck.

- Spider's mother, Gloria Elizabeth McArthur-Jerusalem, suffered severe bi-polar disorder and was highly delusional during her manic states. She was in and out of Arkham for many years and never seemed much better when she left. Just lacked the insurance to pay for them to keep her inside.

- Spider's father, David Patrick Jerusalem, was a city bus driver and they lived in a cheap tenement on the docks with just a bus driver's salary and Mrs. Jerusalem's disability checks when she qualified for them .

- As a boy, Spider spent a lot of time visiting his mother in Arkham. He watched her condition decline and saw her go through a lot of different medications with varying degrees of zombification.

- When Spider was fifteen, his mother died during one of her stays in the asylum. The official records say 'suicide', though Spider's always blamed Arkham staff.

- Spider was a juvenile delinquent and often in trouble with the law. He ran off as soon as he was out of highschool, making sure to go to a college as far from Gotham as possible. However, once he got his degree, he came back to write about his city. He's written two books about Gotham, "The Filthy City" and "Gotham has Rabies". He also wrote a book about Arkham called "Temple of Madness" but he was sued and the book was pulled. A few copies still exist and are considered highly collectible. As part of the verdict in the lawsuit, Spider was court ordered to remain off of Arkham property.

- His newspaper article, "I Hate It Here", has been printed in Gotham papers for the last fourteen years. It is syndicated into twenty papers nation-wide and online. There have been two printed collections.

- Spider has been arrested for streaking through the city on multiple occasions. He also has mugging, possession, public intoxication, animal abuse, public urination (off the top of a downtown office building onto a crowd of school children on a field trip), and several other charges.
