Fired, Dismissed, Terminated, Shit-canned, etc.

Well its been a long day. Went to work, got sent home and suspended "pending our investigation" at 10. Pending investigations are really useful covers for "we can't actually fire you until we have your check in hand, so go home, we'll have it tomorrow". So I've been fired. Only took them almost 2 months. See punkrockgrrrl keeps track of everything on her LJ, so I know when shit went south.
On Sept 12 there was a massive inventory variance in my store. It made no sense to me whatsoever. More product was missing than I could possibly store, it was crazy. But I was told that we were going to have a conference call with myself, my boss and IT to see if we could figure it out. This didn't happen until Oct because of some scheduling issues.
On Sept 18, my job was posted on Monster. Unfortunately I didn't find that out until today. But its my job, in my store, almost 2 months before I got fired. Strange.
Several times my team has asked me what I did that made my boss take this so personally. I can't think of anything. Neither can they.
I've had numerous sitdowns with my boss in the last 2 months. We did my performance review last week, my quarterly inspection, a meeting at corporate with all my peers, a region conference just last week. Any of those times would have been great to say, "your services are no longer needed".
Now they have changed all the combinations to the safe, but they aren't giving them to the management staff that is left, they only are giving it to a shift supervisor from another store. Seems that the whole team is getting the axe.
So after they were finally able to find some reason to fire me, a reason that is really a stretch, I'm left wondering if there was a plan somewhere. Did my inventory numbers get tampered with? What exactly happened to get us here? I don't think it was the 23 cases of apple juice that went missing in Sept. I don't know.
The best was my phone ringing at 10:30 tonight because I am still on the call list and the alarm was going off in the store and there was movement in the store. Told them to send the cops ($100 fee) and to call the boss. Let her go deal with it.

jamba
