The whole team turned up for last night's game. It was lovely to see them all, especially after we've gone through stretches where we couldn't even get 9 on the field. Ellen was back in uniform and ready to play

Ellen came up with a runner on third, and had a very strong at-bat, coming back from 0-2 to a full count and then smacking a hard grounder that brought in the tying run. Yay Ellen!
RBI! How was she on the field? Any residual ball-fear?
I don't think a ball came her way. Tim decided to break her in by playing her in the outfield and at catcher, much like Emmett when he came back from his broken nose. She was catching the ball fine in practice, and was going after grounders with her usual hustle.
She's prone to bailing out at the plate still, which is one reason I was so pleased she hung in there on that RBI at-bat. She had her grim face on, but stuck it out and go the hit.
And to be fair, there are a lot of plunkings per game. Although most kids are getting used to ducking out of the way by now, and have gotten over the shock of getting hit. I think four or five kids got hit in our last game and there were no tears. Also, they mostly got zapped in the ass or thigh, so while it hurts it doesn't rattle you as much.

I would have perfectly round bruises on my legs all summer long. It was really cool when you could actually see marks from the stitches in the bruise.
