At the reading at Moe's on Monday, Emmett got hungry so JZ took him out for a donut. They also bought a book for Emmett -- The story of Exodus as told with Leggo figures.
I was curious to see what exactly had captured Emmett's attention in this story.
Emmett: "See this guy? That's Pharoah's son. God killed him."
Later...
Emmett: "What's the difference between a Murderer and a Killer? The book says that Moses murdered a slave owner..."
So, I think it's the mayhem that's appealing to him. And the idea of a God and Moses kicking violent ass.
Then Emmett took his book into class and showed it to his classmates. This wound up causing some problems because his excellent teacher got very excited, beause she's a serious church-going gal. She pulled Emmett's Mom aside (who is now working part-time at Emmett's school) and said, "Isn't it wonderful that it's teaching these conservative Christian values?"
Which was definitely not the right thing to be saying to Emmett's Mom.
