Get a grip, for fuck's sake!
I am, of course, referring to a particularly puerile thread across there:
http://annemccaffreyfans.org/forum/showthread.php?p=947839#post947839 Miley Cyrus, at 15, posing for Vanity Fair. A well-lit shot, beautifully muted tones, with a touch of red drawing your gaze to face and eyes. And, in portraiture, it's the eyes every time. I scoped the picture before reading the text and - guess what? - saw absolutely NOTHING salacious in the image.
And, as for the second image - I saw a father-and-daughter picture that conveyed nothing more than they seem relaxed in each other's company. Kinda reassuring, actually, even if not technically accomplished in the shadow areas.
But not for GR'ass, apparently.
Seems it's all part of a devilish plot to sexualise and corrupt our young. From the context, you can understand Debs being a touch twitchy. Otherwise, the response was just a tad extreme. Never thought I'd agree with Bronzie - but there you go . . .
Mind you, it is a schizophrenic society, where in-yer-face sexuality coexists uncomfortably with the weirdest puritanism seen outside the Wahabe sect . To outsiders, this side of American society is hilariously surreal - omigod! Janet Jackson has nipples! Pass the bleach, Gladys, my eyeballs need a good scrub.
Role model? Pschaw! I don't get this seeing the dirty where none exists. Take a cold shower or a long walk, GR'ass.
ETA - On refreshing the thread, I note that GR'ass also has a history that makes her response more understandable. Even so, please don't project your own very justifiable angst onto the rest of us. Most of the population are not predators, and we don't read into those images the connotations that you perceive.
We just don't.
In any event, given the girl's age, her parents would have had to give approval for the release of the images. That's the way things work. In show business, there's client approval - just as there is in real life. So, no exploitation - unless you believe the worst of her parents.
I repeat - to me the pictures are unexceptionable; I really do not see the problem.
