I would like to thank NBC for letting me know that none of the Americans medaled in the Individual Show Jumping finals. How did they do this? Simple - there was absolutely NO MENTION WHATSOEVER of the fact that it was even happening/existed in NBC's coverage. Also, this let me know that Britain didn't medal, either. Thus, I was able to watch the entire event replay without knowing the final result.
Gee, isn't it great that NBC is run by a bunch of pseudo-patriotic, racist, ageist assholes??
Also, thank GOD my sport of choice is one that NBC cares so little about that their online event replays don't even have announcers. Unless you count the arena announcer who you can kind of hear if you have the volume all the way up and strain to hear. It's a nice break from the idiocy of their TV announcers, who dumb everything down to the point of being insulting.
I think the average person watching a show jumping competition knows that knocking fences down is not good. Just saying.
In other news, I'm pretty much over the Olympics. At least, trying to watch them on TV. I was so excited for them, because normally they're a chance to see athletes from around the world competing in sports that don't usually get time in the spotlight, but these Olympics? Not so much.
I am extremely disappointed in NBC, because I KNOW they're capable of better coverage than this. They've had better coverage in the past. I'm just going to look shit up online and fuck NBC. I've been trying, but I am so over this nonsense. I don't want them telling me what's important. I have my own opinions on that.
As a side note - when my MOM, who happens to be a huge swimming fan AND a Michel Phelps fan, is thoroughly sick of seeing his face on TV, it's time to stop interviewing him and show some actual sports. Just saying.
