Super mega update!
So holy cow, it's been forever since I posted on this thing. Probably because I think the number of my readers has dwindled since I first started this blog, but oh well (btw, the word BLOG is SO awkward!)
Well first things first. I am indeed a college graduate now and soon after I did, I managed to squeeze my way into a zookeeper internship at the Oakland Zoo, where I worked really closely with animals for a few months and it was wonderful. I met a lot of people and somehow convinced them to give me a full-time job at the education department. YAY!!! It's a teaching position without the commitment/hassle of keeping up a classroom/grading papers/dealing with parents/etc., and I still get to work really closely with animals but don't have to clean up after them anymore. It's really the best of both worlds and I couldn't ask for a better job at this point in my life. So that's that.
Update #2: We have a dog now! We rescued her on Valentine's day! She's adorable, and I'll post pictures soon. She's a 4-yr old field-bred English Cocker Spaniel and because of her cute curly droopy ears we decided to call her Leia. There's so much I could write about her because we already love her to death, but it will suffice to say that she is definitely without question THE perfect dog. (PLUS SHE FETCHES MY SLIPPERS FTW!!! I DIDN'T EVEN TEACH HER THAT!!) And the cats are starting to get along with her, which is all I could ask for. Maybe eventually we'll all cuddle together in a doggie/kitty pile but we're not quite there yet.
So that's my life right now. I'm quite positive that if it wasn't for our pets, I'd start talking to myself. Grant's job and school takes up a lot of his time but other than that I'm pretty happy with how everything's going. Hopefully I'll remember to post more often and whatnot. Peace.
