some accumulated angst

A phone call and a few days later everything settled was ruffled and organized and driven twenty-seven hours to the polar opposite. What once was found, now it’s lost. Where am i? I know where I’m not. Three years of pushing pizza, culling coffee, slinging sandwiches and wasting wasting away; my time. Turned on a dime. Not a dime in my pocket.no reception for the phone; bill past due. What once was found, now it’s lost. Keep on trucking, baby. The pacific isn’t too far away. Hop, skip, and a jump in the right direction. We’re doing this for your protection, love. This is sanity’s saving grace. In isolation will be the piece the greatest city was never able to produce. Of the entire bag of tricks, this rabbit ran away with the hat.

it’s all dead darling.
These walls, if they could talk
Oh what a silence they’d bear.
If a tree falls in a forest?
What did you expect?
A lifetime of dying, baby.
Advertised, prophesized;
Can’t stand the quiet, can you?
There’s more to it than meets the eye
Aye
I
Didn’t need to hear a thing
Riding between the cars
With stars above and tracks below
Surrounded by all that noise
It’s dead, darling.
That cars been the main st and 42nd
a thousand times since
hence
it was advertised, prophesized
i saw it in the stars
the death of me and you.

You never returned the letter
I thought I’d never send
The most nonchalant
Hardly influenced by
Liquor or drugs
Crossed out everything
That came out wrong
And rewrote a sentence
Perfectly punctuated and eloquent.
Never one to say much.
Crossed your ghost on
The street
Dead eyes. Looked
Right past me
Walked straight through me
Still haunted. Gotta sail away from
This port
But the bottle is half empty
Going fast.
This battle’s half over
Cuz I’m the only one
Still fighting
Where do I hang the
White flag?
