anyone still there?

The internet is bigger than I left it. I think I must return slowly and gently.

But I know the time is right; riddering and I used to fantasize together about getting our hermit on in quiet little cabins (equipped with high-speed internet) in the woods… and here I am ( Read more... )

1)...I always liked to imagine that there was an alternate universe where i-alternate played Rachel in the Animorphs movies (had to be movies because the show sucked so hard) and then went on to star in the show about my life in this reality. And the actor who played Marco now plays my boyfriend. He didn't come on the show until the second or third season but he is a huge hit. And of course the actors were secretly Rachel/Marco shippers all along so this new show is a bit of redemption. ...WHAT.

I don't think there's any way a real movie could live up to that. HOWEVER, sci-fi special effects being what they are these days, movies could kick ass. Better casting this time, please.

I suppose you are right that some childhood pop culture references are a worthy sacrifice for better Rachel books. And maybe certain books could be replaced altogether with new plots. And new ships! Fuck, don't half-ass it, KA, just rewrite the whole series like you're remaking a British tv show in America! Now that you know how it ends, think how much cleaner you could make it. All those anatomical errors could be corrected. Shit, i better get on my story about treading water in the tank ship in #3!

2) Costis! Eugenides!! The Queens! The gods! Shit, March is so close, I should reread everything so i'm ready to pick up all the little details. Why did i leave my paperbacks in Santa Cruz, dammit! I vow i shall have them by christmas.

I LOVE THAT WE HAVE NOT TALKED IN LIKE A YEAR AND YET YOUR LAMENESS REGARDING THIS TOPIC HAS NOT CHANGED AT ALL. YAY.

And new ships!
Sometime last year she took fan questions and when they asked what her favorite non-canon ship was, she said it was Marco/Cassie because Marco and Cassie = her and her husband. So even with new ships I don't think we would be winners here. We'll always have Paris MM#4.

ALSO YES GET ON THAT STORY.

2) I AM SO EXCITED. It's Sophos-centric and at first I was sort of like, ".... D:" because even though Sophos-centric was obviously the logical choice for the next one, WANT MOAR OTP AND COSTIS, but she balanced the characters out so well last time that I will just have faith she pulls it off again!

I do not say OTP lightly!! I still do not understand why everyone doesn't see the Rachel/Marco light. It's like, it's like, it's like everyone around me ships Tutu/Mytho and doesn't get Ahiru/Fakir. My thought bubble looks like this: ???????

STUMPED.

Oh yeah, Marco/Cassie. meh. KAA and i have different ideas of what constitutes romance, obviously. That's the thing about even if she does give the whole thing a revamp -- she's still not gonna end it the way i think it should end.

MM#4!

And the universe in my head.

And Rachel for President!

2) Isn't Sophos kidnapped? Awwww... i know i'm gonna love it but sigh, anyway, that she has to be so sneaky with her perspectives. Even though that is one of my favorite things about those books, really.

...SO EXCITED.

1) I pretty much ship Marco with everyone so I kinda wouldn't be opposed to Marco/Cassie, except I don't think she would ever do it anyway because, um, without Cassie then Jake would be even more boring ahaha.

Well, I'm not really hoping for moar shippy OTP goodness aside from wishing she would rewrite #37, because I think if she had written that book herself, the Marco/Rachel scenes in it would have been wonderful. I'll always ship Marco/Rachel, but I would happily settle for her just rewriting Rachel's trainwrecky ghostwritten books because nobody could write Rachel worth a damn except KAA. And so I felt like the story KAA wanted to tell, where Rachel slowly goes off the deep end, just never got communicated very well from Rachel's point of view after #22. You got more insight into her head watching her from Tobias or Marco's points of view.

RACHEL FOR PRESIDENT INDEED. I also need to finish that!

2) The blurb makes it sound like probably the story will be set in Attolia, but Sophos will be telling everyone else what happened to him in flashbacks. And I'm guessing it'll probably also have some Sophos/Helen lovin', which will better position the other kingdoms to gear up to fight Mede on a united front.

1) Well, yes, it would be more interesting than Cassies/Jake probably -- for Cassie anyway. I certainly wouldn't blame her! But yeah i don't really think KAA would do that much rewriting.

You're totally right that ultimately the best thing to hope for is for some of those later Rachel books to make more sense. Oh, Rachel!

2) Oooooh that blurb sounds awesome! Aw, Sophos! I'm glad he's back. Is it March yet?
