Where My Homies Who Still Love BSG At?

Over the last few weeks I have rewatched the entire series from the mini to the end of season three, including all the deleted scenes and the webisodes, and I just have to rewatch Razor now before the season premiere.

And I am so fucking excited. When I rewatched, I remembered how much I love it all. I love the action and the ambiguity and the ( Read more... )

I think my favorite lines of his will always be "I've only committed you to obeying the law" and "If you're telling me we're throwing out the law, then I'm not a Captain, you're not a Commander and you are not the President. And I don't owe either of you a damned explanation for anything."

Oh HELL yes. I love that scene. I love those lines. Apollo, you're a fucking beacon of justice.

But I also love how often the show lets Adama and Roslin BOTH be wrong. They're good people and powerful leaders, but they both get caught up in their own hype sometimes, and start putting holding onto their power over using that power fairly. Apollo's not the only one who has to step up and set them straight sometimes -- I also love when Dee admonishes Commander Adama in Home to get him to suck it up and put what's left of the human family back together, and when the Chief berates Roslin for making letting the Fleet become segregated by class/planetary origin in Dirty Hands.

I had a similar reaction to the original aired version of UB -- I wanted to love Dee, because I always had, but I couldn't quite get a handle on what she was thinking until Eye of Jupiter/Rapture, and then it all made sense in retrospect. So I was thrilled that the extended version confirmed exactly what I had figured out about Dee. I love loving characters without reservation.

And I would love it if you friend me! Fair warning, I'm not very consistent when it comes to content or frequency of posts, but I do love BSG a whole whole lot and it will probably compell me to post again more than I have in a while. I haven't had this much fun with replying to comments in a while, even! Gods, CAN YOU TELL I AM JUST A LITTLE BIT EXCITED TODAY? *g*

Well, BSG IS BACK, and I CANNOT BLAME YOU! I am awash in the same joy. I love all the characters so much!

Yes, I agree! And I like that the show has these shades of grey, that it's not just Humans Good, Cylons Bad, Heroes Always Right, Enemies Always Wrong. That's why when anyone starts ranting about how x or y character is completely irredemable or 100% wrong, I think they're missing the point of the show.

I also love when Dee admonishes Commander Adama in Home to get him to suck it up and put what's left of the human family back together

My favorite Dee moment of all time! I love the way she says with such quiet dignity: "Maybe you don't think I have anything to say -- but I do." And I'm with you on the Chief as well; I think there need to be these other voices out there, ensuring a balance of powers.

Well, it's been lovely to meet you! And please don't worry about frequency of posts or anything; sometimes I just have to drop off the face of LJ myself, and I can tell that whenever you do happen to post about BSG, if you do, I'll enjoy it. :)
